If a dog attacks you, just one word can save you.. See more…

What to do if a dog attacks you:

Try to stay calm.

Dogs, like some other animals, really feel human fear. Of course, it is quite difficult to calm down if you are faced with an aggressive dog. To begin with, you should stop shouting, waving your arms and trying to escape. Such actions will betray your fear and nervousness, and the dog will receive a direct signal to attack.

Slow down.

If a dog crosses your path while you are running, immediately slow down. Slowly turn to the other side and continue moving slowly, following the dog with your peripheral vision. It would also be appropriate to stop, remain still, and relax your arms at your sides. This will avoid the animal’s attention.

Do not look the animal in the eye.

Direct eye contact with the dog can increase its aggression. The animal perceives such a sight as a threat and therefore will attack first. The dog should stay in your field of vision, looking at it from the side. Then it will realize that you are not a threat and will most likely just walk past you.

Distract the dog.

In such a situation, anything that is at hand will help. Give your dog your shoe, bottle, or backpack – anything that he can bite into. While the animal is busy, you can slowly move away, avoiding the consequences.
