What if the signs of a poor diet have already appeared without you realizing it?
Brittle hair, bleeding gums, or a constantly itchy scalp may not be just a nuisance.
The human body, like an Impressionist painting, delicately expresses its needs… but you have to know how to interpret them. Here are eight signs worth paying attention to.
Brittle nails and lifeless hair: the silent signal of a biotin deficiency
Nails that break for no apparent reason, or hair that suddenly becomes dry and brittle? It’s not always age or stress. The cause is often a biotin (vitamin B7) deficiency. It’s a little-known but essential ally for healthy hair and nails. It’s found in egg yolks, organ meats, nuts, and whole grains.
This deficiency is more common in smokers, pregnant women, and people taking long-term antibiotics. Important note: Excessive consumption of raw egg whites makes biotin absorption difficult due to the avidin they contain.
Canker sores and cracked corners of the lips: a sign of vitamin B or iron deficiency
Have you ever had small canker sores that won’t heal? Recurring canker sores or cracks at the corners of your mouth are often a sign of a B vitamin (B1, B2, B6) or iron deficiency. Just like a car warning you of an impending breakdown, your mouth is warning you. It’s a good idea to add lentils, chicken liver, eggs, or sesame seeds to your diet.
Bleeding gums: possible vitamin C deficiency
Bleeding gums every time you brush your teeth aren’t necessarily due to poor hygiene. A vitamin C deficiency weakens tissues and slows healing. Its absence can even make colds a recurring problem. A glass of freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast or a raw vegetable salad can have a beneficial effect.
