Calendula oil
For one cup of calendula oil you will need:
– 5 handfuls of fresh marigold flowers
– 0.5 liters of high quality oil (olive, almond, sunflower)
– clean and boiled pot
How to proceed:
We pick the marigold flowers and let them dry slightly to release all the water and prevent the oil from spoiling. Then we place them in a clean container and pour the oil over them. We make sure that all the flowers are submerged, otherwise they risk mold.
Close the container, place it in the sun, and let it sit for 14 days. You can shake it occasionally. Then filter the oil using a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or a clean handkerchief. Close the container and store it in a cool, dry place.
Make tea
Add 1 teaspoon of calendula flowers to 250 ml of boiling water. Let it steep for 10 minutes, then strain.
Tea has anti-inflammatory, soothing, antioxidant, and antibiotic properties. It cleanses the lymphatic system and supports internal organs, including the heart and liver. It is even effective against chronic infections.
It is also used for hemorrhoids, fungal infections and is also used as a poultice in case of other external problems.
Dyeing
Prepare 1 liter of real wine and add a handful of marigold flowers.
This mixture should rest for two weeks in the sun, at a room temperature not exceeding 20 °C. The tincture is added to tea or water.
Add 1 teaspoon. The tincture cleanses the body from the inside, acts as an antioxidant, stimulates the immune system, soothes oral infections, and also has an excellent effect on sore throats.
Ointment
Fresh marigold leaves, flowers and stems are used to make ointments.
Place 500g of lard in a saucepan and heat it. When the fat is hot, add 4 handfuls of finely chopped coriander flowers, stems, and leaves.
When the mixture begins to foam, remove from heat and let cool. Let it sit for a day, then reheat and strain through a cloth. Pour into containers and let it set.
