The little-known impact of urinating in the shower on women’s health, revealed by an expert

Impact on pelvic health

Standing in the shower  is not optimal for complete bladder evacuation . The pelvic floor muscles remain partially contracted, which can promote  urine stagnation and the development of infections . Even the so-called “pirate” posture, with one leg raised,  does not allow sufficient muscle relaxation  for proper emptying.

The perineum: a fragile muscle group

This crucial muscle group supports several vital organs including  the bladder, reproductive system, and rectum . Its weakening can lead to various disorders:

  • Problems with urinary or bowel control
  • Lower back pain
  • Discomfort during intimate relations

Certain factors such as pregnancy,  intensive exercise  , or  weight problems  increase these risks. Adding  poor urination habits to the mix  only makes the situation worse.

Tips for emergency situations

In cases of absolute necessity, experts recommend adopting  a full squatting position . This posture allows for better relaxation of the pelvic muscles.  However, this practice should be limited  to exceptional situations to avoid developing bad habits.
