How to Prevent Sheets from Balling Up in the Dryer
✅ How to Keep Sheets from Balling Up in the Dryer
1. Dry Sheets Separately
Whenever possible, don’t dry your sheets with towels or clothes. Sheets are large and flexible — other items just encourage bunching.
👉 Give them their own spin in the dryer.
2. Shake Out Sheets Before Drying
Don’t toss crumpled sheets straight from the washer into the dryer.
Take 10 seconds to give them a good shake — unfold and loosen them before drying.
It helps them tumble more freely.
3. Use Dryer Balls
Dryer balls (especially wool ones) help separate the sheets, allowing air to circulate better.
No dryer balls? Throw in a couple clean tennis balls or even rolled-up socks in a pinch.
4. Pause & Flip
About halfway through the cycle, pause the dryer, pull the sheets out, shake them out, and throw them back in.
Yes, it’s one more step — but it keeps things evenly dried and untangled.
5. Don’t Overload
