Meteobalkans forecasters warn that these phenomena will develop in our country late Wednesday afternoon. The main storms are currently concentrated in Serbia, near the Bulgarian border, in the Niš and Dimitrovgrad regions. The first Bulgarian regions to be affected are expected to be Western Stara Planina and Transko.
“We have not issued an alert because the phenomena will be localized and affect limited areas, but be careful!” warns the weather platform. However, official forecasts from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) confirm the danger, with a yellow warning in effect across the country in case of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by hail.
Meteorologists also presented data from the SPM system, which indicates the expected density of thunderstorms. The maps indicate in red the areas where the most lightning strikes per square kilometer are expected, highlighting the potential danger of the approaching front.
