A tomato full of poison is easy to recognize: one detail is essential

Tomatoes are a plant you will find in almost every vegetable garden.

They are relatively easy to grow and produce large, red, juicy fruits.

Choose a variety

It’s always a good idea to seek expert advice on which type of tomato is best suited to your growing conditions. For example, in an open, sunny space or on a patio. Just because a variety is sold in every nursery doesn’t mean it will grow well in all conditions.

Soil preparation

Make sure the soil is neither hard nor compacted. The new root system will not be able to develop and penetrate compacted soil, making deep planting unnecessary. Dig the soil first, then add compost.

Baking soda tip

Baking soda is a secret weapon for ensuring healthy tomato growth. When the plant is about 1 inch tall, sprinkle 4 teaspoons of baking soda around the plant, making sure not to touch it. Repeat this process shortly before harvest. The baking soda will reduce the acidity of the soil, and the tomatoes will taste better.
