Instructions
Prepare the ginger: Peel the ginger root using a peeler or spoon, then either slice it thinly or grate it. The smaller the pieces, the stronger the flavor will be.
Boil the water: Combine the ginger with the water in a saucepan.
Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 5 to 15 minutes. A longer simmer will result in a stronger flavor.
Strain: Remove the pot from the heat and strain the water into a mug or container to separate the ginger pieces.
Add flavor (optional): Stir in honey, lemon juice, or cinnamon to taste.
Serve: Serve the ginger water hot or let it cool to room temperature or chill it in the refrigerator to drink cold
