To remove ice crust from the freezer of a refrigerator that is not equipped with the No Frost system, you no longer need to wait for it to defrost overnight and collect the water – there is a faster way.
Here’s what you need to do: Turn off the refrigerator. Place some hot water bottles in the freezer.
When the ice begins to melt and continues to flow, wipe all sides of the freezer with a cotton swab soaked in glycerin. This will slow down the formation of ice in the future.
When loading food into the freezer, try to place it in tightly sealed containers so that liquids do not drip onto the walls of the chamber, which can contribute to ice formation.
Also check the freezer door seal. Place a piece of paper between the doors; if it opens easily, the rubber bands need to be replaced.
