Alert! The word that can turn your voice into the key to fraud with artificial
intelligence In the midst of the rise of artificial intelligence, telephone scams have evolved to a much more sophisticated and dangerous level. It’s no longer enough to just ignore fake emails or messages: now, just by saying certain words during a call, your voice can be used against you, without you even realizing it.
Voice, a unique and personal trait, has become a valuable resource for digital criminals. Thanks to AI’s ability to clone tones, accents, and even emotions, recording and replicating your voice has become a tool for committing crimes ranging from identity theft to fraudulent bank authorizations or fake contracts. In this context, a few simple words can be the trigger that triggers fraud against you.
Among the words you should avoid using in phone calls are affirmative answers such as “yes”, a term that scammers take advantage of to legitimize operations without your real consent. This phenomenon, known as the “yes fraud”, consists of recording your voice saying that word and then manipulating it and simulating authorizations in transactions or legal agreements. Therefore, it is better to opt for neutral answers or questions that allow you to confirm the identity of the interlocutor, such as: “What is the reason for your call?” or “Who is contacting me from?”
